I’m so, so sorry to hear of Sam’s passing. I always felt we had a lot in common - characters often described as “larger-than-life”, extrovert r’n’b frontmen, men with a great love for their families. Even the heart thing (although l was fortunate enough to survive my own heart attack 13 years ago), which is why l’m happy to donate to this very worthy cause. Above all, though, Sam was a thoroughly good guy - one of those people who always made the world a brighter, more interesting and more fun place - and goodness knows, the world needs such people in these troubled times. I’m sorry l won’t be around to come to Sam’s funeral, but please be assured you will all be in my thoughts next week.
